The Miami Dolphins are gearing up for their Week Three clash against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. After suffering a 31-10 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, the Dolphins, now 1-1, are looking to bounce back. Unfortunately, they will be without their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who sustained a concussion during the Bills game after a hard hit by safety Damar Hamlin. This injury, which rendered Tagovailoa unconscious, bears a striking resemblance to the concussions he experienced during the 2022 season.
Due to this latest setback, the Dolphins have placed Tagovailoa on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games. In his absence, Skyler Thompson is set to take over as the starting quarterback, while the team has signed two-time Pro Bowl QB Tyler “Snoop” Huntley to serve as his backup. Despite some former players and coaches suggesting that Tagovailoa should consider retirement, reports indicate that he has no current plans to step away from the game. However, his ability to return will depend on passing medical evaluations from team doctors.
As uncertainty lingers around Tagovailoa’s health, speculation has emerged regarding potential trade scenarios for the Dolphins. Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, the top overall pick in last year’s draft, has been mentioned as a possible trade target. NFL analyst Dan Graziano recently pointed to Miami as a suitable destination for Young, noting that head coach Mike McDaniel’s offensive system could be a good fit for his skill set.
Young struggled during his rookie season and hasn’t fared much better in the early stages of this year, which led to veteran Andy Dalton stepping in as Carolina’s starter. With the Panthers potentially reconsidering Young’s role in their future plans, the possibility of a trade to the Dolphins has gained traction as a way for both parties to find a fresh start.
