Crystal Palace’s season has started on a challenging note under new manager Oliver Glasner, with the team yet to find consistent form. Their recent 2-2 draw with Wolves, another struggling side in the Premier League, highlighted this, as goals came from defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Guehi rather than the usual attacking options.

A major factor in any potential recovery for Palace will be the performance of their main striker, Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, his future at the club remains uncertain due to his contract situation. Mateta’s current deal runs until 2026, but if an extension isn’t secured, the 27-year-old may consider leaving Selhurst Park earlier than planned.

Crystal Palace, though, appear keen to retain Mateta and are reportedly willing to meet his wage demands of approximately £90,000 per week, which would likely satisfy the French forward. So far this season, he has netted three times in the Premier League and added two goals in the EFL Cup.
