A Premier League footballer has issued a heartfelt appeal after his home was burgled for the second time this year.
Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton took to Instagram on Friday to address the intruders, urging them to stop targeting his property and family. The Brazilian emphasized that there is “nothing valuable left” in his home, adding, “Our priority is our family’s safety and ensuring our children grow up without fear. We simply want to live in peace.”
He expressed hopes for a safer community, saying, “We want our home to be respected as a secure space for our family and for all children to feel safe.”
The latest break-in occurred on Thursday evening, with Northumbria Police confirming a burglary report from Darras Hall, Northumberland, at 7:35 p.m. Although the homeowner’s identity wasn’t disclosed, the incident marked Joelinton’s second such experience this year, following a burglary in January during Newcastle’s game against Manchester City.
Joelinton isn’t alone in facing such challenges. His teammate Alexander Isak’s home was also targeted in April. These incidents are part of a growing trend where criminals, dubbed “away day gangs,” exploit match schedules to break into players’ homes. Other football stars, including Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo, and Raheem Sterling, have been victims of similar crimes.
