This month, Leeds United made a significant step forward in the redevelopment of Elland Road with the appointment of Lucinda Yeadon, a former long-serving councillor, to oversee fan engagement throughout the project. Yeadon, who spent a decade as a councillor, will be a key figure in ensuring supporters remain involved and informed as plans for the stadium’s expansion progress.
Her appointment was confirmed at the November 5 supporters’ advisory board meeting, where it was announced that she would act as the main liaison between the club, the community, and the consultants overseeing the development. Yeadon’s role will involve gathering fan feedback, communicating the latest plans, and working closely with the development team to ensure the voices of supporters are heard.
Leeds United’s CEO, Angus Kinnear, highlighted Yeadon’s importance in fostering clear communication with fans during this crucial phase of the project. Kinnear also mentioned the possibility of organizing specific meetings to facilitate ongoing dialogue between the club and its supporters. The advisory board will work on formalizing a structure for this communication as the project moves forward. Kinnear stressed the need to preserve Elland Road’s identity, ensuring that while the stadium is modernized, it retains its iconic status.
Yeadon brings a wealth of experience to the role. She served on Leeds City Council from 2008 to 2018, representing the Kirkstall ward. During her tenure, she held multiple leadership positions, including deputy leader of the council. Most recently, she worked in community engagement and social impact roles with Commercial Estates Group, where she was responsible for liaising with local residents, partners, and stakeholders in relation to development projects.
