Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has confirmed that Eberechi Eze will miss the team’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on Saturday. The 26-year-old midfielder picked up an injury during Palace’s 2-1 victory over Villa in the Carabao Cup last month, and will not be included in the squad for this match.
Despite Eze’s absence, Palace will welcome back several key players. Will Hughes returns from suspension, while Chris Richards is also available for selection. Additionally, Jefferson Lerma is fit to play, and Cheick Doucouré is ready to start following two weeks of strong training sessions.
Glasner explained that although Eze was keen to participate, the decision was made to prioritize his long-term health. Despite training during the week, his injury remains too recent, and with a busy schedule ahead, including eight matches in December, it was deemed too risky to involve him. The manager emphasized the need to protect players’ well-being, aiming to ensure Eze is fully fit for the crucial stretch of games in December and beyond.
