Aaron Wan-Bissaka was filled with pride after scoring his first goal for West Ham United in their 2-0 triumph over Newcastle United on Monday. The victory, which followed an early goal from Tomáš Souček, was secured by Wan-Bissaka’s strike in the second half, set up by a perfectly timed pass from Jarrod Bowen. This win marked West Ham’s second away success of the Premier League season.

Speaking about the match, Wan-Bissaka shared how significant the goal was for him, especially as it came in a game where the entire team performed strongly. He described the moment as instinctive, quickly hitting the ball and watching it strike the post before going in. Wan-Bissaka also praised the team’s unity, underlining the importance of a clean sheet and a collective defensive effort.

His developing partnership with Jarrod Bowen has been a highlight, with Wan-Bissaka noting how well they are starting to understand each other’s play. He feels more attuned to Bowen’s movements, knowing when to make runs down the flank and when to hold back.

Looking to the future, Wan-Bissaka sees the victory as a pivotal moment for the team. He believes it is the result of the hard work they have put in, especially during the break, and expressed confidence going into their upcoming match against Arsenal. With manager Julen Lopetegui encouraging the team to build on this momentum, Wan-Bissaka is hopeful that this win will be a stepping stone in their quest for European qualification.
