Chris Wood and Nottingham Forest are in ongoing talks regarding a new contract as the striker nears the end of his current deal. The club is keen to secure his services for the future to avoid losing him for free. At 33, Wood continues to be a crucial figure in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, and his departure would be difficult to manage.

While negotiations continue, Wood is seeking a two-year contract, according to Tom Collomosse, but Forest’s current offer only extends for one more year. Nuno, who highly values Wood’s contributions, would see losing the forward as a major blow to his plans at the City Ground.

Wood’s current salary stands at £100,000 a week, making him one of the club’s highest earners. However, given his age, Forest is hesitant to offer a longer-term deal. Nonetheless, both parties are eager to reach an agreement, with the striker able to speak to foreign clubs about a pre-contract move in January.

Wood has been in excellent form this season, scoring 10 goals in 16 Premier League appearances. His performances have been a key factor in Forest’s strong start under Nuno, as the club currently sits in the top four, ahead of defending champions Manchester City. Forest have also won six of their last nine league matches, with their next fixture away to Brentford.
