Wolves have completed the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou, a 27-year-old Ivory Coast defender, from French club Reims for a reported fee of over £16m. This marks the first addition to the squad under new manager Vitor Pereira, with Agbadou penning a four-and-a-half-year deal that includes a 12-month extension option.

Agbadou, who began his career at Monastir in Tunisia, later played for Eupen in Belgium before making the move to Reims. During his two-and-a-half-year spell at the Ligue 1 club, he earned the captaincy and played a key role in the team’s defensive setup this season.

Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, stating, “Emmanuel is a determined winner with an insatiable drive. Despite the progress he’s already made in his career, he remains incredibly hungry. Wolves fans will appreciate his all-out commitment on the field. He has the attributes needed to thrive in the Premier League—physically strong, quick, and comfortable on the ball.”

Hobbs also emphasized Agbadou’s leadership, noting that his experience as captain of Reims has significantly sharpened his game. “Adding a player with leadership qualities was one of our priorities when Vitor joined. With a packed fixture list in January, we couldn’t afford to delay, and we’re excited to have Emmanuel as part of the team.”
