Matheus Cunha delivered a standout performance, scoring twice and providing an assist, as Wolverhampton Wanderers triumphed 4-1 over Fulham in a remarkable Premier League comeback at Craven Cottage. The win marked Wolves’ first away victory of the season.
Fulham took the lead early through Alex Iwobi, who curled in a brilliant shot from the edge of the box. However, Cunha quickly leveled for Wolves in the 31st minute, finishing a smooth pass from Mario Lemina with a delicate chip over goalkeeper Bernd Leno. After the break, Cunha turned provider, setting up Joao Gomes for a well-placed strike that put Wolves in front.
The Brazilian striker wasn’t finished yet; with three minutes remaining, Cunha scored a sensational long-range effort to secure his brace and put the game beyond Fulham’s reach. In stoppage time, Goncalo Guedes added a fourth to complete the comeback and lift Gary O’Neil’s side out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily.
Fulham, fresh off two consecutive wins, threatened early through Antonee Robinson’s delivery to Raul Jimenez, but the striker’s header hit the crossbar. Moments later, Iwobi gave Fulham the lead with a spectacular effort.
Wolves, however, bounced back strong. Cunha’s equalizer sparked the visitors into life, and after he assisted Gomes for the go-ahead goal, Cunha could have made it 3-1 with a missed one-on-one chance. Despite some late pressure from Fulham, including Harry Wilson’s long-range shot that also struck the crossbar, Cunha’s second and Guedes’ stoppage-time goal wrapped up a dominant performance from Wolves.
