Eintracht Frankfurt are exploring the option of signing Leeds United’s Rasmus Kristensen on a permanent basis. The Danish defender, currently on loan with Frankfurt, has made eight appearances in the Bundesliga this season. Although recent speculation suggested that Frankfurt might look to trigger a purchase option for Kristensen, sporting director Timmo Hardung has clarified that no final decision has been made.
In an interview with Scandinavian outlet TipsBladet, Hardung expressed openness to retaining Kristensen beyond his loan, stating, “It’s certainly an option. We value his abilities highly, and as we plan next season’s squad, we’ll consider a permanent move. Right now, he’s with us until June 2025, which is a key asset for us.”
If Leeds opts to sell, they’ll likely want to recoup a good portion of the reported £10 million fee they paid to sign Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. Since Leeds’ relegation, Kristensen hasn’t featured for the team and was loaned out to Roma last season.
In comments made to SportWitness, Hardung added, “His future is still open. We need to discuss things with him and with Leeds to determine if a permanent transfer is the best option.”
Kristensen recently sustained a thigh injury that will keep him out of Denmark’s upcoming international games, as reported by Bild, a German newspaper.
