Nottingham Forest are reportedly looking to secure a new contract for Morgan Gibbs-White this season. The 24-year-old midfielder recently earned his first senior call-up to the England squad, marking a significant step in his career after becoming a crucial figure for Forest.
Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers two years ago for an initial £25 million fee, which could rise to £42 million with add-ons. The club views the investment as a success, and his current contract, which runs until 2027, may soon be extended as his influence on the team continues to grow. With other clubs like Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly showing interest, Forest are eager to offer him a deal that would make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.
According to the Daily Mail, contract negotiations are expected to progress this season. However, Gibbs-White is said to have no desire to leave the City Ground and remains focused on his development with Forest.
In the meantime, Gibbs-White’s attention will be on the upcoming Nations League matches for England, where they face Ireland on Saturday and Finland next Tuesday. He is familiar with interim manager Lee Carsley, having worked with him during the 2023 Under-21 European Championship triumph.
Reflecting on his England call-up, Gibbs-White revealed that he had been included in the long list since the Under-21 Euros and patiently waited for the right moment. He credited his performances for Forest as the key to earning the call-up and expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Gibbs-White also praised Carsley, describing him as a tactically astute manager with excellent man-management skills. He’s optimistic about the upcoming fixtures and hopes the team can perform well under Carsley’s leadership.
