Alexander Isak has shared a heartfelt message of thanks to Newcastle United fans after being deeply moved by a special tribute ahead of Monday’s match against West Ham United. Despite the 2-0 loss, which took away some of the optimism from the team’s push to close the gap on second-place Manchester City, the Swedish striker took to social media to acknowledge the fans’ unwavering support since his arrival.
The tribute, coordinated by Wor Flags, was a stunning display in the Leazes end of St James’ Park, where blue and yellow flags—symbolizing Sweden—lined the stands with Isak’s name prominently featured. A banner in the Gallowgate End also paid homage to the popular striker, reading “Alexander the Great” alongside his image.
In his post, Isak said, “Very disappointing result last night. However, I want to take my time to thank @worflags and the entire fanbase for this incredible experience. Walking onto the pitch and seeing this was truly overwhelming and a moment I will never forget. We go again on Saturday!”
Newcastle will next face Crystal Palace on Saturday, before hosting top-of-the-table Liverpool at St James’ Park the following Wednesday.
