Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina might return to action against Arsenal after cutting short his international duty with Nigeria. Aina, instrumental in Forest’s strong performance this season, played a significant role in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Benin, which confirmed their qualification for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. However, he was substituted late in the match, reportedly due to fatigue, and received treatment.
Following discussions between Nottingham Forest and the Nigerian Football Federation, Aina was excused from Nigeria’s subsequent match against Rwanda, allowing him to return to England for recovery. Interim Nigerian coach Austin Eguavoen acknowledged the importance of cooperation with clubs and agreed to the early release of the player.
Aina’s condition is being closely monitored, with Forest evaluating his fitness ahead of the weekend clash at the Emirates Stadium.
