William Gallas has expressed concerns about Arsenal’s inconsistency, drawing comparisons to their North London rivals, Tottenham. The former Gunners defender believes Arsenal’s failure to maintain form in key matches is hindering their title challenge this season. Despite sitting third in the Premier League, Arsenal have secured only eight wins from fifteen games, six points behind the leaders, having played an extra match.
A recent disappointing 1-1 draw at Fulham added to their woes, further derailing their title hopes. Earlier setbacks against sides like Brighton, Bournemouth, and Newcastle have led Gallas to suggest that Arsenal’s unpredictable results are beginning to mirror Tottenham’s long-standing inconsistency.
In an interview with Prime Casino, Gallas reflected on the team’s recurring issues: “Arsenal always seem to have the same problem — they get great results against the big teams but fail to capitalize when it matters most. This season, they missed the chance to close the gap on Liverpool.”
The former defender questioned why this trend has persisted for several seasons: “The question is why, because this has been happening for the past few years. What is going wrong? Is it the players, or is it the manager who can’t find the solution to win these must-win games against teams like Fulham?” he said, as reported by Football London.
Gallas added that Arsenal’s recent form is beginning to resemble Tottenham’s reputation for unexpected slip-ups: “Arsenal are starting to remind me of Tottenham in this respect. Spurs have always had these kinds of performances, but we didn’t used to see that from Arsenal.”
To strengthen Arsenal’s attack, Gallas suggested they should target Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, highlighting the striker’s qualities: “Arsenal need a forward who fits their style, and Isak is a great option. He’s physically strong, technically skilled, and has a good understanding of the game.”
However, Gallas also pointed out that acquiring Isak would not be easy: “The problem is that he won’t come cheap, and it might take some time for him to adapt. Arsenal missed their chance to sign him in the summer. Had they done so, they could be in Liverpool’s position at the top of the table right now.”
