The New York Giants could potentially revisit a reunion with former star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was recently placed on waivers by the Miami Dolphins.

Beckham, a fan favorite during his first five seasons in the NFL with the Giants, was released by Miami after playing in nine games this year. However, his impact was minimal, as he only logged nine catches for 55 yards on 18 targets. Injuries have significantly slowed Beckham’s career, including a torn ACL that sidelined him for the entire 2022 season. Despite these setbacks, he managed to show signs of life in 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens, finishing the year with 35 receptions, 565 yards, and three touchdowns.

Although a potential return to the Giants wouldn’t be expected to revive Beckham’s prime form, it could provide a much-needed emotional boost to a struggling team. At 2-11, New York is already out of playoff contention, but adding a familiar face like Beckham could give fans something to cheer for during a difficult year. During his time with the Giants, Beckham was one of the NFL’s most explosive playmakers, racking up over 1,000 receiving yards in four of his five seasons and scoring 44 touchdowns.

Given the current state of the Giants’ offense and the issues at quarterback, it’s unlikely that Beckham would approach his previous production. Nonetheless, his presence could inject some energy into an offense that ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring.
