David Moyes, the former West Ham manager, left the club over the summer following his second tenure.

During his four-and-a-half-year run, Moyes delivered West Ham’s first trophy in 43 years by winning the 2023 Conference League and achieved three top-half finishes and three European qualifications. Despite these successes, the club opted not to renew his contract past the season’s end.

Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, Moyes revealed that he was initially offered a new contract after West Ham’s victory over Arsenal at the Emirates on December 28. However, after a string of three losses, chairman David Sullivan retracted the offer. Moyes, who hadn’t yet signed, admitted he was hesitant to commit, unsure if he should stay. Sullivan then informed him, “I’m taking the contract away,” leading to a decision to revisit the matter at season’s end.

West Ham concluded the season in ninth place and made it to the Carabao Cup and Europa League quarter-finals. After Moyes’ exit, former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui was appointed in the summer but has faced criticism as West Ham sit 14th in the league with 11 points from their first 10 matches. Despite the shaky start, they remain six points clear of the relegation zone ahead of their upcoming game against Everton.

Since leaving, Moyes has yet to return to management but recently shared that he’s received offers from both clubs and national teams looking to bring him on board.
