Leeds United’s disappointing loss to Blackburn Rovers on the weekend has seen them fall out of the automatic promotion spots, with Sheffield United and Burnley taking advantage of the result. However, with a positive showing in their upcoming home fixture against Derby County, Leeds have a chance to quickly regain their position in the top two. The match at Elland Road on Saturday looms large, and the team will be eager to bounce back.

Ahead of the clash, Daniel Farke is scheduled to speak to the media on Thursday, where fans will be hoping for encouraging news regarding player injuries. Fortunately, there were no significant fitness concerns following the Blackburn defeat. Meanwhile, Derby County, who have gone four games without a win, will arrive at Elland Road with a point to prove, aiming to lift their form in a low-pressure environment. As the Championship intensifies, the YEP has rounded up the latest club news.

Stelling Slams Potential TV Deal Changes

Jeff Stelling has come out strongly against the idea of ending the Saturday 3pm blackout for televised football. The proposal, which could be part of discussions for a new TV deal in 2029, suggests Premier League clubs may push to broadcast more matches to boost their revenue. Stelling, however, believes this would spell disaster for lower league clubs. He argued that such a change would reduce matchday attendances, particularly at clubs like Grimsby or Morecambe, where fans would be more inclined to watch high-profile Premier League fixtures on TV instead. Stelling also proposed that reducing the cost of TV subscriptions could help curb illegal streaming, instead of damaging smaller clubs by taking away live match exclusivity.

Gelhardt Linked with Rangers Move

Joe Gelhardt’s future at Leeds United remains uncertain, with Paul Robinson suggesting that a loan move to Rangers could be the perfect opportunity for the young forward. The YEP previously reported growing interest in Gelhardt, with Rangers among the clubs considering a move for him in January. Robinson highlighted that Gelhardt, currently not a regular starter at Leeds, would benefit from a spell at Rangers, a club competing in Europe. The opportunity to play regularly in the Scottish Premiership and European competitions would aid Gelhardt’s development. Robinson also noted that Gelhardt is likely to have several suitors when the transfer window opens.
