Aaron Rodgers, the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, made it clear that he has no intention of being placed on injured reserve unless he’s dealing with a legitimate injury. During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on November 26, Rodgers firmly stated, “I will not willingly go on IR without an injury.” This comes in response to reports from NFL Insider Dianna Russini, who suggested that Rodgers, currently managing injuries, could be placed on IR or benched soon, marking a disappointing conclusion to his tenure with the Jets.

Despite these rumors, Rodgers sounded confident about his health heading into the Jets’ bye week. He claimed to feel “good” and described himself as being as healthy as he’s been all season. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich echoed this sentiment, clarifying that there have been no discussions about shutting down Rodgers for the season. Rodgers also dismissed speculation regarding his resistance to medical scans, stating that he knows his body better than anyone after 20 years in the NFL. He explained that he and the team’s doctors have maintained open communication about his condition, treatment options, and the risks of continuing to play, with no directive to undergo any scans he wasn’t comfortable with.

Looking ahead, Rodgers is confirmed as the starting quarterback for the Jets’ Week 13 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, despite the team’s slim playoff chances. Ulbrich emphasized that as long as Rodgers is healthy, he will remain the starter, highlighting Rodgers’ determination to finish the season strong and leave the team with a positive experience, no matter how unlikely the postseason may seem.
