Keith Wyness, former CEO of Everton, has predicted that the club’s upcoming stadium will elevate their commercial revenue into the Premier League’s top ten. Speaking on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness, who held the CEO position at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now manages a consultancy firm advising football clubs, expressed confidence in Everton’s financial future—provided they remain in the Premier League by the 2025-26 season.
According to Wyness, the stadium, with a capacity of 52,888 and set to open in 2025, could generate over £60 million in yearly revenue. The stadium project, which began construction three years ago, is expected to significantly improve Everton’s commercial prospects.
Everton’s commercial revenue decreased by 23% in the 2022-23 season, dropping from £50 million to £39 million.
Wyness emphasized that although the new stadium won’t immediately push Everton to the top of the Premier League’s revenue rankings, it will prevent further decline—a trend they were experiencing at Goodison. He also highlighted that the initial £60 million figure has the potential to increase in the future.
He concluded by saying that Everton’s outlook is positive, especially if they can stabilize their ownership situation and maintain their place in the Premier League.
