Over the summer, Newcastle’s manager reshuffled the squad, selecting Bruno Guimaraes as the captain for the 2024-25 season. This decision led to Kieran Trippier being demoted to second vice-captain, with Jamaal Lascelles taking precedence. Furthermore, Trippier, now 33, has lost his starting position to Tino Livramento, causing him to fall further down the pecking order.
Kieran Trippier plans to leave Newcastle United
In response to these developments, despite Eddie Howe’s reluctance to let him go, TBR Football has reported that Trippier has communicated his intention to leave St. James’ Park as soon as possible.
With most European transfer windows closed, Trippier’s options are limited, but he could still move to the Turkish Super Lig, where the window remains open until September 13th.
Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have expressed interest in acquiring the experienced full-back, with Galatasaray also rumored to be pursuing Manchester United’s Casemiro. However, for Trippier to depart, he must first convince Newcastle to release him—a task that may be complicated by Howe’s limited choices at right-back.
