Lewis Hall has singled out Dan Burn as a key figure in helping him settle into life at Newcastle United during a difficult start. After joining the club from Chelsea, Hall spent much of last season on the sidelines, trying to adapt to Eddie Howe’s rigorous training methods. Despite limited game time, Howe maintained his belief in Hall’s potential, and by the end of the season, the young defender began to show signs of improvement.

Hall’s breakthrough came in the new season when he earned a regular spot as left-back. His standout performances, including a man-of-the-match display against Arsenal and a solid outing at Nottingham Forest, earned him a first call-up to the England squad. Since then, Hall has continued to grow in confidence, with many Newcastle fans already seeing him as the club’s left-back for the long term, especially with Tino Livramento impressing on the opposite flank.

While his Chelsea academy teammate Livramento was a positive influence during those early days, Hall credits the strong sense of camaraderie among the Geordie players for helping him navigate the challenges. “It was tough,” Hall said. “There were times when I doubted myself, and it felt like a dark place. But players like Tino, Lewis Miley, and especially Dan Burn really helped me through. They were there for me when I needed it most and made me feel supported.”
