Crysencio Summerville has praised Mohammed Kudus despite the competition between them for a spot at West Ham United. While Summerville spent much of the time on the bench until Kudus’ suspension, there are no hard feelings between the two, with the Dutch winger describing the Ghanaian as his “boy” and a “good player” who is also a kind person.
In an interview with Voetbal International on 2 December, as quoted by Voetbal Primeur, Summerville shared how Kudus continues to impress him with his exceptional abilities on the training ground. “Kudus is my boy, a good player, but also a nice person,” Summerville said. “I don’t need to explain his footballing qualities, everyone can see that. Sometimes in training, I see things that make me think, ‘This is just crazy’. He’s a top talent.”
Both Kudus and Summerville are undoubtedly talented, but West Ham fans have yet to see their best performances this season. The Hammers are currently just six points above the relegation zone. Kudus, who was involved in 20 goals last season, has only scored twice for West Ham so far and is still recovering from a five-match ban for violent conduct in the 4-1 loss to Tottenham on 19 October.
Summerville, who arrived from Leeds United for £25 million, has made just five Premier League starts and scored once. The lack of significant contributions from both players has put manager Julen Lopetegui under pressure.
With Kudus returning from his suspension, he is expected to feature in West Ham’s upcoming match against Leicester on 3 December, though it remains unclear if he will take Summerville’s place in the starting lineup.
