Newcastle United are reportedly entering the race to sign West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, joining Arsenal and Liverpool in pursuit of the 24-year-old Ghanaian. Kudus, who moved from Ajax to West Ham for £39 million in the summer of 2023, has seen his value increase significantly and could now command a transfer fee of around £90 million if he leaves the London Stadium.
The versatile attacker was linked with several top clubs during his time at Ajax, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, with a potential move to Stamford Bridge looking likely at one point. Instead, Kudus joined West Ham, where he enjoyed an impressive debut season, netting eight goals and providing six assists in the Premier League, while also contributing five goals in nine Europa League appearances.
However, his 2024/25 campaign has not started as smoothly. Kudus missed several matches between October and November after being sent off for violent conduct in a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham, which slowed his momentum. Despite this, his ability to play both centrally and on the left wing makes him an attractive target for several top clubs. Arsenal are reportedly interested in adding depth to their attack, particularly to support Bukayo Saka, while Liverpool may see him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who could leave the club at the end of the season.
Newcastle, who are also keen on Kudus, have identified him as a priority target to strengthen their right-wing options. However, West Ham’s £90 million asking price could be a stumbling block, especially as Newcastle would need to make sales in January to finance such a deal. This could mean a winter transfer is unlikely, leaving Arsenal and Liverpool in a stronger position to secure Kudus’ signature in the near future.
