Evangelos Marinakis is reportedly close to bringing Edu into his network of clubs, including Nottingham Forest. According to The Athletic, an agreement has been made, with Edu expected to join once he formally departs from Arsenal.
Edu, who recently announced his resignation as Arsenal’s sporting director, played a significant role in assembling the squad that has elevated Arsenal’s standing in the Premier League. Since joining in 2019, he was key in acquiring notable players like Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Following news of his resignation, speculation linked him with Forest, and it appears Marinakis has succeeded in attracting him to the club.
Edu’s responsibilities within the Marinakis network have yet to be fully defined, but reports suggest he will focus on developing Marinakis’ football operations across his portfolio. In addition to Forest, Marinakis owns Olympiacos in Greece and Rio Ave in Portugal, indicating a broad vision for expanding his multi-club holdings.
Over the summer, rumors surfaced about Forest’s interest in Edu, which the club initially dismissed. However, with the team excelling under manager Nuno Espirito Santo and currently in third place in the Premier League, Forest could soon benefit from Edu’s expertise.
Forest’s upcoming schedule includes a home match against Newcastle United before they head to the Emirates to face Arsenal on November 23, following the international break.
