Nuno Espirito Santo commended the professionalism of his Nottingham Forest team after they secured a 2-0 win over Luton in the FA Cup third round, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches. Despite making 11 changes to the starting lineup, Forest’s strength in depth was clear, with goals from Ryan Yates and Ramon Sosa ensuring the victory. This result equaled the club’s seven-match unbeaten streak from October and November 2006, further boosting the positive atmosphere around the team.

The win not only saw Forest advance to the FA Cup fourth round but also set their sights on a crucial Premier League match against Liverpool on Tuesday. That game could have significant implications in their push for the title. Reflecting on the performance, Nuno said, “It was important for all players to get a chance and be rewarded. They enjoyed playing at the City Ground, and although many were playing together for the first time, they did so with professionalism. We were organised and committed, and while things didn’t always flow perfectly, that’s to be expected. The main thing is we’ve kept progressing in the competition.”

Nuno also stressed the importance of maintaining the team’s momentum: “It’s vital to keep the energy and spirit up. When we go into the next game happy, it makes things easier.”

For Luton, the match was their first since manager Rob Edwards’ departure earlier in the week. Caretaker boss Paul Trollope acknowledged the challenges, saying, “It’s been a difficult week, but the players gave their all and showed great spirit after Rob left. My job was to manage the two days of training and lead the team for today’s match, and we’ve done that. We’ll see what happens next, and discussions with the club will take place in the coming days.”
