Roy Keane is backing West Ham to beat Everton, drawing on David Moyes’ recent comment that Sean Dyche’s Everton side is tough to beat. This matchup is set for Saturday, 9 November, when West Ham hosts Everton at the London Stadium, a pivotal fixture for Hammers manager Julen Lopetegui.
Keane made his prediction during The Overlap (7 September), reacting to Moyes’ words. Moyes, a former West Ham boss himself, remarked, “Everton aren’t easy to beat. I know they lost 1-0 to Southampton, but they’re usually hard to play against.” Keane jokingly responded, “So that means West Ham all day.”
This last London clash could be a turning point for Lopetegui, who’s feeling the heat after West Ham’s recent 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest (2 November), as fan discontent grows. Lopetegui will be desperate for a win to regain support from fans, but Dyche’s team, known for its disciplined defense, has only conceded more than one goal in four games this season.
West Ham’s defensive record has been shaky, conceding eight goals in their last three games while only managing to score three. For Lopetegui’s side to get the win, they’ll need to adopt an attacking approach and improve defensive consistency, especially given Everton’s goal to keep a clean sheet and potentially snatch points on the road.
In other West Ham news, one player has admitted to feeling “embarrassed” over a recent controversial incident.
