While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, Ruud van Nistelrooy is widely expected to take over as the new manager of Leicester City. The Dutch legend faces a tough challenge in steering the Foxes back to the Premier League, and he could turn to his old club, Manchester United, for reinforcements.

Van Nistelrooy had hoped to return to Old Trafford in some capacity after Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, but the offer never came. He was also linked with the Crystal Palace job, but after the Eagles failed to move quickly, Leicester now seem to be the beneficiaries of that delay. With the January transfer window on the horizon, van Nistelrooy is likely to make his move in the market.

There are several players at Manchester United who could be good candidates to join Leicester’s revival. Daniel Gore, a 20-year-old midfielder, has made limited appearances for the first team and could look for more game time, especially with his contract running until 2026. Similarly, 17-year-old left-back Harry Amass has struggled for minutes at United and may seek a loan move to continue his development. Lastly, Toby Collyer, another young player at 20, has found himself on the fringes of the United squad and might be keen for more consistent playing opportunities.

A move to Leicester, whether permanent or on loan, could benefit all parties. The young players would gain valuable first-team experience, while van Nistelrooy could strengthen his squad as he works to restore Leicester to its former glory.
