Schools in the region have a unique chance to represent Leeds United in the Utilita Kids and Girls Cup and play at Wembley Stadium. Organized by the EFL, Utilita Energy, and 72 Club Community Organizations, the competition is one of the largest school football events in England and Wales.
In the 2024/25 season, over 20,000 boys and girls from 2,500 schools will compete to represent their local EFL clubs, advancing through regional stages in hopes of reaching the finals held at Wembley, coinciding with major playoff events. Past tournaments have launched notable careers, such as Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich and Ellie Roebuck of the Lionesses.
EFL CEO Trevor Birch highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering strong connections between football clubs, schools, and communities while promoting active lifestyles. Utilita Energy’s CEO, Bill Bullen, emphasized the inclusivity and sustainability of football, supported by their *Football Rebooted* program, which donates pre-loved boots to children in need.
This initiative not only nurtures young talent but also strengthens ties between football and local communities across the UK.
