Ahead of Everton’s crucial match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, manager Sean Dyche discussed his relationship with the club’s outgoing owner, Farhad Moshiri, and the prospective new owners, the Friedkin Group (TFG). The game, which takes place on Wednesday, follows a demoralizing 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, heightening the pressure on both Dyche and his players.

Currently just two points ahead of Wolves, who sit in the relegation zone, Everton faces a tough battle for survival with difficult fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City looming. As such, the match against Wolves has become a must-win for the Blues.

Dyche, who helped Everton narrowly avoid relegation on the final day of the 2022-23 season and secured mid-table safety last season despite two points deductions, remains supported by Moshiri, who has agreed to sell the club to the Friedkin Group. In his press conference, Dyche acknowledged the ongoing challenges at the club, admitting that things have not been easy since his arrival. He recognized mistakes made by both himself and his players this season, but stressed that improving results and securing victories are crucial for the team’s future.

When asked about Moshiri’s backing, Dyche described their communication as simple, primarily through WhatsApp and occasional phone calls. He confirmed that he has not yet had direct contact with the Friedkin Group, but understands their cautious approach as they finalize the takeover. Dyche speculated that once the deal is complete, the new owners will likely reach out to him to discuss the club’s direction.

Despite the team’s struggles, Dyche expressed pride in his squad, emphasizing their determination and resilience in tough circumstances. He also confirmed that summer signing Armando Broja, now fully fit, could be included in the squad for the Wolves game. Although results have been disappointing, Dyche remains committed to the challenge, believing that the team can turn things around. He pointed to the constant challenges at the club, including last season’s surprise points deductions, but reaffirmed his readiness to continue fighting for Everton’s future.
