This week, West Ham emerged as one of the clubs showing interest in Lecce’s promising young talent, Patrick Dorgu. The Hammers are reportedly putting in significant effort to secure the Denmark international, but they face fierce competition from the likes of Tottenham, Napoli, RB Leipzig, and Chelsea. Dorgu, who has been in strong form this season, is looking to build on his current tally of three goals and continue impressing for the Serie A side.

Lecce’s sporting director, Pantaleo Corvino, discussed Dorgu’s future in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, making it clear that the 20-year-old will not be leaving the club in January. Despite the growing interest from multiple top clubs, Corvino stated that Dorgu would remain with Lecce until the summer, at which point talks about his future would take place. “The future belongs to him,” Corvino said, signaling that a potential transfer will be considered only after the current season concludes.

With these comments, Corvino effectively dismissed the possibility of a January move. Dorgu’s versatility has been one of the standout features of his game this season. While he’s scored three league goals, he’s also showcased his ability to play in multiple positions, including left-back and on both wings. His recent goal on his Denmark debut only adds to his growing reputation, confirming that West Ham’s interest is justified. If they are able to secure his signature, Dorgu could prove to be a vital asset for both the present and the future.
