The New York Giants’ 100th season is shaping up to be one they’d prefer to forget. What should have been a milestone year has turned into a season of frustration, culminating in a new low following their loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16. This defeat extended the Giants’ losing streak to a historic 10 games, a record that only highlights how far the team has fallen this year.

A Record-Breaking Struggle

The Giants’ loss to Atlanta marked their 10th consecutive defeat, the longest losing streak in the franchise’s history. Prior to this, the longest streak was nine losses, which occurred in both 1976 and 2019. The team has been in freefall since their last win, a 24-3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, back on October 6. Since then, over two months have passed without a victory, and it’s not just the Giants who are struggling — both the New York Mets and Yankees have posted wins more recently, despite the MLB season ending in late October.

With a dismal 2-13 record, the Giants are in line to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With only two games left — one at home against the Indianapolis Colts and another on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles — the chances of breaking the streak seem slim. Most likely, the Giants will finish the season on a 10-game losing streak, which leaves them looking ahead to the 2025-26 campaign.

Ownership Faces Tough Decisions

The current situation is sure to be a major concern for ownership. Back in October, co-owner and team president John Mara expressed confidence in his current leadership, stating he didn’t anticipate any changes at the end of the season. However, with the team’s struggles now reaching historic proportions, Mara and the front office will likely have to reassess their approach. A 2-13 record leaves little room for optimism, and tough decisions regarding the future of the franchise are likely on the horizon.
