Brentford manager Thomas Frank has announced that Vitaly Janelt will be available for selection ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea. Janelt, who has been a key figure in Brentford’s midfield this season, missed the recent 4-2 home victory over Newcastle United due to injury. Despite his absence, the Bees extended their unbeaten home run, with Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, Nathan Collins, and Kevin Schade all on the scoresheet. The win saw Brentford remain in ninth place, just four points off the top four.
Frank provided an optimistic update on Janelt’s recovery, stating, “Everyone from the last match should be available. Vitaly Janelt should be involved on Sunday, which is great news for us.” The Brentford head coach also confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer, who recently returned to the squad after a seven-match injury layoff, is now fit enough to start.
On the downside, Frank revealed that midfielder Mathias Jensen, sidelined for the past two games due to a hamstring issue, remains a few weeks away from a return. “It’s a setback as he’s a key player for us,” Frank admitted. “But others, like Yehor Yarmoliuk, have stepped in and performed well.”
In further injury news, summer signing Gustavo Nunes has experienced a setback in his recovery from a stress fracture in his lower back. Frank explained that Nunes is likely to be out for an extended period as the club takes a cautious approach to his rehabilitation. “We don’t want to rush him back,” Frank said. “He’s still young, and we want to ensure he is fully recovered before returning.”
With a near-full squad available, Brentford will aim to secure their first away win of the season when they face Chelsea, having earned just one point from their first seven away matches in the Premier League.
