The Detroit Lions were short-handed against the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field, but they managed to pull off a 34-17 road win in impressive fashion. After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell made an unusual move by handing out just one game ball, which went to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown had a solid performance with six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. Following the presentation, Campbell gave Jameson Williams the opportunity to address the team. Williams, who led the Lions in receiving yards with 143 yards on five catches, including a touchdown, had a standout game against a struggling Bears secondary.
“Everything we got goes into San Fran,” Campbell said, stressing the importance of focusing on the next challenge. He then turned to Williams, encouraging him to “break it down” as the team looked ahead to their upcoming game. “Big win today, but we gotta keep stepping, keep moving forward, never backward,” Williams said to his teammates, rallying them as the postgame celebration began.
The Lions will now face the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers next Monday at 8:15 p.m. in a primetime showdown in the Bay Area.
